Private Preschool Programs in King George, VA

For families in King George County searching for a nurturing, faith-based start, Fredericksburg Christian School (FCS) offers preschool programs anchored in Christ and designed to help young learners explore, play, and grow.

At FCS, we partner with parents to build a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond. Our preschool experience blends flexible scheduling, small class sizes, and a Christ-centered curriculum so that your child feels known, cared for, and ready to thrive. Here is a closer look at what our early childhood programs offer and why so many local families make FCS part of their story.

A Christ-Centered Start for Your Youngest Learner

A quality preschool experience does more than teach colors, shapes, and letters. It shapes how a child sees themselves, treats others, and approaches learning for the rest of their life. At Fredericksburg Christian School, our purpose is to glorify God by educating with excellence, and that mission begins with our youngest students.

Our preschool programs are anchored in Christ and intentionally designed to encourage exploration and skill development. We believe children learn best when their environment feels both safe and joyful, so our classrooms are full of hands-on discovery, creative play, and gentle guidance from teachers who model Christian values every day. From their very first days on campus, children begin to understand that they are loved by God and capable of wonderful things.

Parents who want their family’s faith reflected in their child’s education find a natural home here. You can learn more about what makes our approach distinctive on The FCS Difference page.

Serving Families Across the Region

Fredericksburg Christian School is home to families from several communities surrounding the city of Fredericksburg. We proudly welcome students from Caroline County, Fredericksburg, King George County, Spotsylvania County, and Stafford County. You can see our full service area on the Who We Serve page.

To make the daily commute easier for families a little farther out, we offer bus service to and from several areas, including the King George area. Bus routes tend to fill quickly and often result in wait lists, so families who plan to use transportation are encouraged to contact our Admissions Office early. Many parents also choose to carpool, and our team helps coordinate carpool lists for interested families.

Inside Our Preschool Classrooms

We partner with parents to create a supportive, nurturing environment that meets young learners exactly where they are. We believe in intentional alignment between home and school, so that the lessons your child learns in our classrooms reinforce the values you are teaching at home.

The Learning Environment

Step inside an FCS preschool classroom and you will find warmth, structure, and plenty of encouragement. Our teachers help preschoolers develop the everyday skills that set them up for success in kindergarten:

  • Lots of participation and patience: Teachers help children learn to listen attentively, practice sharing and taking turns, and raise their hand before speaking.
  • Small class sizes: Learners feel cared for and known through individualized attention and small group instruction.
  • Creative enrichment: Activities such as art and music foster creativity, imagination, and both fine and gross motor skills.

Because our classes stay small, every child is truly known. That kind of individualized attention helps little ones build confidence, form friendships, and develop a genuine love for learning.

Our Curriculum

In our Lower School, FCS uses a variety of Biblically-based curriculum programs, including but not limited to Abeka, Purposeful Design, Shirley English, and Bob Jones. Each year, our Curriculum team evaluates the strengths of these programs alongside the needs of our students, then develops an in-house curriculum that combines multiple resources to create the highest quality educational program possible.

The result is a preschool experience that is both academically rich and developmentally appropriate, giving your child a solid foundation for the grades to come.

Why Families Choose FCS

When you are trusting a school with your youngest child, details matter. Families across the region choose Fredericksburg Christian School for reasons that go well beyond academics:

  • Safety first: We employ a full-time safety and security officer, conduct background checks on all volunteers, and regularly hold emergency drills.
  • Trusted accreditation: FCS is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and is an accredited member of the Virginia Council for Private Education.
  • A true partnership with parents: Teachers communicate regularly with families, and parents are welcomed into the community through opportunities like our monthly prayer walk.
  • Faith woven throughout: Christian character and Biblical truth are integrated into everything we do, not reserved for a single chapel time.
  • Room to grow: With programs from preschool all the way through grade 12, your child can continue their education in one consistent, Christ-centered community.

That continuity is one of the greatest gifts we can offer. The relationships and habits your child forms in preschool carry forward as they move into our kindergarten program and the grades that follow.
