Narnia Day
Each year, our 5th grade classrooms and hallway are transformed into the enchanted land of Narnia. The students and teachers dress as their favorite characters and participate in fun games and activities centered around The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Our parent volunteers and teachers truly make the entire experience come to life!
5th Grade Day
Moving to the Upper School is an exciting time for our fifth graders. It also can bring some nervous feelings with new changes. Our 5th grade day is a preview into the new experiences to come. They experience a chapel style worship with our High School worship team, take a tour, see and learn how the lunch line works, practice opening a locker, and meet with student representatives to ask questions.
Dr. Seuss Day
You’re off to great places, today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!
Our lower school students know that when God directs their path, they don’t have to worry about any obstacles – whether it be green eggs and ham, a fox in socks, or a cat in a hat. It’s always fun to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day, the joy of creativity, and a love for reading!
Fun Run
We are so grateful for the financial support we receive as a school each year during our annual Boosterthon Fun Run! Through lap-based pledges and flat-amount donations, our students help to fundraise for a variety of school upgrades and necessary updates each year. The week is full of fun rewards, special challenges, and classroom activities, and it culminates with each grade level running laps around our athletic fields to earn their pledged donations!
Field Day
At the Lower School , we like to end each school year with a Field Day as a fun way to celebrate the summer months ahead. The students train for Field Day during PE, learning new skills and practicing for classroom competitions. From tug-o-war and long jump to inflatables and water games, Field Day is a blast for everyone…even our teachers and staff love participating!
Hot Diggity Dog
Students have the option to donate $5.00 for a hotdog grilled lunch. The donations are collected and sent to E3 Royal Kids School in Mombasa, Kenya. In the past, money raised has gone towards providing food for the students and teacher salaries. We are so grateful for the friendship FCS has grown with this organization. Our students look forward to this day and fundraising for this wonderful cause.
Mission Trips
Each year, our middle and high school students and their families are invited to participate in national and global mission trip opportunities with FCS. The teams meet regularly to train for the trip. Together, they fundraise and collect donations to take with them. on the trip. We are so proud of our students who choose to take part in Mission Trips. and experience serving those in need first-hand through. this tangible learning opportunity.
Together We Soar
With both our Upper and Lower schools on one campus, we are able to cultivate relationships within the schools. Together We Soar is all about relationships…with each other here at FCS, those outside FCS, and ultimately our relationship with Christ. This new endeavor brings both the Upper and Lower School students and teachers together for times of prayer, interactions with each other, and service to those near and far. We look forward to serving the Lord and others while growing the unity we have in Christ.
Grandparent’s Day
FCS is incredibly grateful for the legacy of grandparents, many of whom support our school through prayers, teacher appreciation efforts, and even financial contributions. On our special Grandparents Day, families get to visit their student’s classroom, meet the teachers, and explore the school grounds such as our Library and Technology classrooms. We love seeing grandparents visit FCS for this fun occassion!
High School Retreat
High school retreat has been a favorite tradition among our students for years. At the beginning of the school year, our high schoolers head off to Rockbridge Camp. The time is jam packed with activities and chapels to spiritually ground the year to come. New students come home as if they have been at FCS their entire school career.
Homecoming Spirit Week
The week of Homecoming is always a favorite among our students. It is full of themed dress up days, class competitions and a pep rally. We end Spirit Week with our Homecoming Court being presented at the game. We celebrate a Fall and Winter Homecoming each year.
Rake-A-Thon
Middle school parents, teachers, students, and staff armed with rakes, leaf blowers, and smiles dedicate the day to raking leaves for those needing a hand with their yard work! We are proud of our students and their servant’s hearts.
