Families Switching from Homeschool

Trying to figure out if and when your child is ready to make the switch from homeschooling to attending private school can be nerve-wracking. Will they make friends who have similar beliefs and values? Will the coursework be challenging, and will teachers be supportive? It can be a lot to navigate — for parents and students.

At Fredericksburg Christian School, we provide an excellent college preparatory education for students in preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and high school. Homeschool families from around Fredericksburg, Virginia, choose to send their children to FCS for many reasons, including our Christian values, extracurricular offerings, high academic standards, and how we partner with families.

Why Fredericksburg Christian School?

You want to see your child thrive in an environment that mirrors your beliefs — high standards, compassionate leadership, and Christ at the center. At FCS, you can expect:

Excellent academics. Small class sizes. Dedicated teachers. An advanced curriculum. All of these and more contribute to student success in the classroom and beyond.

Opportunities for growth. FCS students enjoy athletics, fine arts, an active spiritual life, service opportunities, and numerous student clubs and organizations. Students are encouraged to be involved and engaged — many discover new passions and untapped talents through extracurricular activities and electives.

A supportive community. At FCS, we emphasize the same Christian values you instill at home. Teachers really get to know their students, including how they learn best and what they need to excel. FCS parents enjoy excellent communication between home and school, and parents can be active members of our community by volunteering.

Intentional relationship-building. We want our new students to feel supported and comfortable. New Student Night helps them get acclimated to their classrooms, teachers, and classmates. Student buddies are assigned to new high school students to help ease them into their new environment. Upper school retreats encourage relationship building for middle and high school students. Smaller class sizes help teachers to know who is new and help introduce and acclimate them to FCS.

“We are thankful for FCS for the excellence and dedication to Christian service represented by the staff, administration, and coaches!  Our son played football for the first time this year and enjoyed the new fishing club! The coaches truly made an impact, and we appreciate their dedication and mentoring. Our daughter is finishing college this year but still hears from staff and coaches from her time at FCS. The impact is far-reaching beyond graduation, and we’re grateful!”
