The elementary years set the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children and adolescents to become healthy, competent, and confident learners. Through a comprehensive and Christ-centered school counseling program at our Lower School, FCS supports students to address their social/emotional, mental, academic, and spiritual development as each child grows towards their God-given potential.
Counseling support for our students happens through individual counseling, small group sessions, classroom lessons, and responsive care including, but not limited to the following areas:
Small Group Counseling
At FCS, we believe children grow best in community. Small group counseling provides students with a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered space to share, listen, and learn alongside peers their age. Meeting once a week for 25 minutes over the course of six weeks, students discover they are not alone in their struggles, gain practical coping strategies, and grow in confidence—always with Christ at the center of each conversation.
Through interactive experiences such as games, art, music, stories, and role play, students practice skills in real time. These activities remind them that God designed us for connection and uses both peers and caring adults to bring encouragement and healing.
Group Offerings
Six-week sessions are offered at various times throughout the year, with topics such as:
