As a parent, you know that your child’s environment matters. Elementary school is a time where your child builds their academic foundation while deepening friendships and exploring new interests. You want to find a school that will nurture not only their academic growth, but also develop respect, kindness, responsibility, and other values you are teaching at home.
At Fredericksburg Christian School, we want the same thing! That’s why we try to get to know each family before they step into our community. We want parents to feel confident that we will work together as partners in their child’s education.
Below you’ll find a brief overview of our elementary program, including:
A culture built on shared values.
Care and support
FCS’s mission is grounded in a Biblical worldview that sets the tone for our culture and values. We focus on the heart as well as the head and help children develop strong moral compasses before they go on to middle school.
Parent Partnerships
Strong partnerships are founded on strong communication. We want parents to feel like a part of our community and to know what is taking place in our classrooms. Teachers regularly communicate with families, and parents are encouraged to volunteer on campus through opportunities like our monthly prayer walk.
Safe Learning
We believe that children learn best when they feel safe. On our campus, we engage a full-time safety and security officer, conduct background checks on all volunteers, and regularly conduct emergency drills. Our small class sizes mean each child is known and cared for well.
A place where your child will flourish.

Academic Development
At FCS, students work in small groups which allows them to be appropriately challenged. This allows teachers to address gaps and provide enrichment. Reading, writing, math, history, science, and Bible make up our core subjects. Reading is also incorporated into every subject.
Spiritual Development
We teach Christian values and leadership across all ages at FCS, and not just in chapel. Our elementary students actively practice the lessons they are learning through service opportunities like Operation Christmas Child, food drives, and fundraisers to support missions.
Technology Enhancement
FCS students learn about technology safety starting in kindergarten. Through our iExcel program, students become knowledgeable on how to use online resources responsibly, understanding how technology can support their learning. They’ll use their iPad, SMART Board, and other tools to Skype with students in Kenya, take virtual field trips, and experience other real-world lessons.
Enrichment
Elementary school is an especially important time for discerning your child’s many interests and passions. The FCS academic experience is strengthened by art, music, computer, gym, and library as part of our enrichment program.
