Why FCS?

When children are born, it’s common for well-wishers to tell parents not to blink because they will miss their children growing up. Most parents would agree that there are certainly days that seem longer than others, but it is true that often we look at our children getting ready to enter a new stage of life and wonder how it arrived so quickly. Weren’t they just learning to crawl? How is it that they’re now ready for middle school? High school? College?

At Fredericksburg Christian School, we understand what you are feeling. And, it matters to us. As a parent, it can be comforting to know that while it may be a time of adjustment, your children are surrounded by people who care about them as individuals. They are invested in their growth – not just academic, but their spiritual and social growth, which will be so important in shaping who they are and who they become. FCS wants to help them and support them as they move through all the ages and stages, towards whatever God has planned for their lives.

During the week, our children spend more waking hours in a school building than in our homes. The ideas and values that they are being exposed to matter. It is important for your children to be in an environment that supports and reinforces what you are teaching at home rather than undermining and contradicting your beliefs. Fredericksburg Christian School exists to create a partnership with parents, knowing that more can be done when the family, the church, and the school work together. Here, God’s Word and His truth are the foundation of all that is done.

Academics matter, which is why students at FCS are provided with a challenging curriculum that will put them on the path to success. If college is the end goal, you can feel confident that your child will be prepared. Alumni frequently report back that college classes were not as stressful as they expected because they had the skills and tools they needed to be successful.

But FCS is more than just a school – it’s a community. Here, students are surrounded by other students on the same path. They have friends who will hold them accountable and help them to make the right choices. They have support from others who want the best for them. This is the type of friendship that goes beyond graduation as our students form bonds that last a lifetime. One day, our students will leave the nest – and we want them to have people around them who will continue to pray for them, reach out to them, and be there for them through all of life’s ups and downs.

When you choose FCS, you’re making a declaration about what matters to you as a parent. You are stating that your child will be in an environment where Christ is first. You are deciding that your child’s education is something that you want to be a part of, as you support the community that is educating Christian leaders for life. You are declaring that education matters and children should be prepared for the road ahead. You are deciding to be part of a body of believers who want the best for their children and for the community.
