William Browning Newman ‘99

William worked with Mr. Journe, of F.P. Journe watches, to design a watch dial in partnership with Holland & Holland. By cutting the Damascus steel barrels of two guns, one from 1862 and the other from 1882, they introduced the Chronometre Holland & Holland watch. Corey Veit ‘05


Corey and his wife Addison just had a baby boy! Levi Joseph Veit on July 3, 2017. He was 9 lbs., 11 oz., and 22 inches long.

Whitney Vance Soriano ‘06


After graduating from FCS, Whitney received her degree in Spanish from the University of Virginia and then moved to Spain with a teaching grant from the Spanish government. While there, she met her husband, Raul. They got married here in the U.S. in February 2014. They have lived in Fredericksburg since then, and have a 2 year old son named Liam. They are excited to start a new adventure, as they are opening a Spanish immersion preschool out of their home in 2018. You can go to www.openmindspanish.com for more information. Mary-Scott Standish DeMarchis ‘07


Mary graduated with a BA in Political Science from James Madison University in 2011, then earned her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Mary Washington in 2014.

Mary currently manages sales for an Organic hydroponic lettuce company, FresH2O Growers, located in Stevensburg. FresH2O Growers is owned by the Van Wingerden family (who are also FCS Alumnae). It is owned by Ben Van Wingerden ‘07 and Catherine Wattiker Van Wingerden ‘07 (Class of 2007 President).

Mary’s husband, Blake DeMarchis, is in the U.S. Coast Guard and a pilot. The two were married on November 24, 2017 and are living in Fredericksburg.

Mindy Matthews Taylor ‘09

Mindy graduated from George Mason University in 2013 with a double major in Conflict Analysis & Resolution and Global Affairs. As a sophomore at George Mason, Mindy met her husband Derek Taylor, and married in Fredericksburg in 2013. They moved to Raleigh, where Mindy earned a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina State University in 2014. Mindy has made a career in local government finance. She now works for the City of Durham on projects ranging from economic development incentives to infrastructure for the City’s Triple A baseball team. Mindy and her husband live in downtown Raleigh, where they volunteer as youth sponsors at Hillyer Memorial Christian Church.

Maggie McKneeley ‘11


Maggie graduated from Patrick Henry College in May 2017 with a Bachelors in Government. Maggie is now working as the Legislative Director for a new conservative, environmental policy organization called the American Conservation Coalition. Maggie spends time in meetings on Capitol Hill, talking about why conservatives need to promote free-market solutions to environmental issues.

Wrenn Calcutt ‘13


Wrenn graduated in May from Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Science with a minor in Chemistry and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Wrenn began attending the Virginia/Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine located in Blacksburg, VA in the fall of 2017.

Jessica Trementozzi ‘15


Jessica got engaged to Jonathan Scott in December 2017.

Tim Chapman ‘17


Tim wasn’t feeling called to any particular college as high school was coming to
a close, so he ended up auditioning for a production of Disney’s Newsies with
Alluvion Stage Company in May. He was cast in the role of Buttons and performed
in 14 shows. Tim auditioned for a production of Disney’s Freaky Friday the musical with Virginia Musical Theatre in Virginia Beach this fall and was cast in that as well. Now he’s back in Fredericksburg and looking for colleges to apply to while keeping an eye out on auditions for productions in the future.
