2015 Reader’s Choice Best Private School

The team at FCS was honored to be named the Reader’s Choice Best Private School for 2015 in the Free Lance-Star annual Reader’s Choice Poll.

It is always humbling when we receive this kind of community honor. We know that it reflects something that we deeply care about — our reputation among parents, families, and alumni.  As a school system, we are committed to listening to those who have entrusted us with building knowledge and skills in the lives of their children.

We’re committed to serving the communities of Stafford, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Caroline for the long haul. When we receive this kind of positive feedback from the community, it’s a real encouragement–thank you!
Rick Yost, Superintendent.

Private schools are evaluated in a variety of ways.  Accreditation is one important measurement and requires that faculty, curriculum, administration, and facilities undergo a review and site visit on a regular basis. FCS maintains ACSI accreditation, which involves a rigorous regular review from top to bottom. Faculty are also evaluated using formal, annual evaluations in which we work collaboratively to foster skills and educational insights that serve youth more effectively.

Of course students don’t escape the rigors of evaluation either, and since we don’t have to complete the state mandated SOLs, we can focus on looking carefully at the skills and competencies that are developing in the lives of each learner.  Regular and year-end testing allow us to get a better look into the strengths and development opportunities of each student– that’s a great fit with our philosophy of providing a challenging and supportive environment.

We’d like to offer our thanks to the Free Lance Star for making community feedback a priority.  It helps make our community a better place.  Our deepest thanks to those who voted in this community poll– their vote of confidence means so much to teachers and administrators who work hard each year to help foster a generation of learners and leaders who will make our community strong and vibrant.
