From the North:

  • From I-95, take exit 126 toward Spotsylvania/Massaponax (turn right at end of exit) onto Rte. 1-S/Rte. 17-S
  • Make a LEFT at the 4th traffic light onto Rte. 17-S
  • Continue for 4.5 miles
  • Turn right onto Thornton Rolling Road
  • Go about a half a mile, turn right onto our campus

From the South:

  • From I-95, take exit 126-B toward Spotsylvania/Massaponax onto Rte. 1-S/Rte. 17-S
  • Make a LEFT at the 5th traffic light onto Rte. 17-S
  • Continue for 4.5 miles
  • Turn right onto Thornton Rolling Road
  • Go about a half a mile, turn right onto our campus

From Route 17-South:

  • Stay on Route 17-S for approximately 4.5 miles
  • Turn RIGHT onto Thornton Rolling Road/Route 609
  • Go approximately 1/2 mile
  • Turn RIGHT onto our campus

Is Fredericksburg Christian School accredited?

Yes! FCS is accredited by AdvancED, the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and is an accredited member of the Virginia Council for Private Education.

Is there an age cut-off for enrolling my child in preschool or kindergarten?

  • Applicants who turn three by September 30th will be considered for enrollment in the Pre-K 3-year-old program.
  • Applicants who turn four by September 30th will be considered for enrollment in the Pre-K 4-year-old program.
  • Applicants who turn five by September 30th will be considered for enrollment in the Kindergarten program.

Does FCS offer extended care?

Extended Care is offered for PK3 – 8th grade from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., however space is limited and may result in a wait list.

What curriculum is used for each grade level?

Curriculum Guides are available for Pre-K3, Pre-K4, and K through 8th grade. An Academic Handbook is available for grades 9 through 12.

Is transportation available to the campus?

We have various bus routes available for transporting students to and from our school facilities. We offer bus service to and from the west side of Fredericksburg, Stafford, and the King George area. We also offer bus-shuttle service from some closer locations to the school. Bus transportation typically is full and results in wait lists. A number of our parents choose to carpool. We help to configure a list for those interested.

Carpool Lists are available in August before the start of the next academic year.

How can I obtain a carpool list?

Current FCS families can obtain a copy of the current carpool list at any school office. Carpool lists are updated each August and are available no later than the first day of school.

How do I sign up for the FACTS SIS Parent Alert System?

FCS uses the FACTS SIS Parent Alert System to instantly inform families of school closings and delays (through phone, email, etc.). In order to make sure you receive notifications that may effect your child, we ask that you update any contact information in your FACTS SIS family portal account.

Once your student is accepted, you will create a FACTS SIS family portal account as a parent.

How do I schedule a campus tour?

Private tours are available year-round. Group tours and open houses are available at select times. We would love to show you our facilities and classrooms as well as answer any of your questions.

What is the class size?

Our average class size is 20 students.

What are the schools hours for each building?

Lower School

Preschool and Kindergarten Program: 8:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (Extended Care Options Available)
Elementary School Program: 8:15 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Extended Care Hours (PreK-8th grade): 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Upper School 7:45 a.m.-2:45 p.m.

Do FCS high school students participate in mission trips?

Our high school students participate in mission programs and reach out to other Christian schools and international communities through mission involvement. We have been to Africa, Argentina, France, Guatemala, Haiti, Peru, and Uruguay, and participated in a local inner-city mission trip in Richmond. The Upper School also provides the opportunity to travel to West Virginia each year, where students volunteer at a boys’ home.

Across our FCS campus, each school annually sponsors a child from Africa.

Do any international students attend the FCS Upper School?

International students have attended FCS from Africa, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Korea, Montenegro, Nigeria, Russia, Serbia, South America, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Where can I find a sports physical, and how long is it valid?

Sports physicals are valid each school year from May 1st of the current year through June 30th of the succeeding year.

Sports physicals can be completed by your student’s primary care physician or a walk-in clinic. The Athletic Department also offers sports physicals for a nominal fee in late spring.
